Dr. Joan Klayton, DMD, FAGD

 

Dr. Joan Klayton is a Board Certified Orthodontist who graduated in the top ten percent of her class from Temple University School of Dental Medicine in Philadelphia, PA. After a one year hospital based General Practice Residency and four years of practice as a general dentist, Dr. Klayton found that her passion was to create beautiful smiles and faces through orthodontics and returned to school to complete the Orthodontic and Dentofacial Orthopedics specialty program at the University of Medicine and Dentistry in Newark, NJ. Soon after completing the program, she was awarded Fellowship (FAGD) status in the Academy of General Dentistry, an achievement of which only 14 orthodontists had attained at the time, worldwide. With over 20 year experience, Dr. Klayton has had the opportunity to treat both unique and challenging cases.

Dr. Klayton grew up in Monmouth County, NJ. She was actively involved for many years with dog rescue, finding forever homes for homeless dogs at risk of euthanasia. Currently she is an active volunteer in the Monmouth County Park System with SPUR (Special People United in Riding) which provides therapeutic horseback riding for the disabled. She also is a volunteer at the Middletown Arts Center whose mission is to enrich the community through arts programming, education, entertainment, and cultural connection for individuals of all ages and abilities.

A former state champion gymnast, Dr. Klayton loves to participate in all sports, especially aerobic step classes, hiking, snow and water skiing, sailing, racket ball, roller blading, horseback riding and even dabbled in the flying trapeze.

Her caring, warmth and gentle touch, along with her love of Orthodontics, make the experience special for all patients both young and old. She is dedicated to providing personalized orthodontic treatment plans most suitable for her patients' needs and desires, while consistently committed to achieving the highest standards in care and comfort.
